The first passage of the Tao Te Ching.

“The tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao. The name that can be named is not the eternal Name. The unnamable is the eternally real. Naming is the origin of all particular things. Free from desire, you realize the mystery. Caught in desire, you see only the manifestations. Yet mystery and manifestations arise from the same source. This source is called darkness. Darkness within darkness. The gateway to all understanding.”

I have found this to be extremely true. Life is far from being figured out. It is mysterious in many ways. One can never really comprehend everything that is happening in that moment in their lives and in all corners of the world in other people’s lives. It is even less possible to to predict what will happen in the future besides one’s own plans that often do not go exactly the way we want them to.

When we let go of this desire to know, to control… we begin to live most truly. Free.
